Chicago Bears Mock Draft: Adding an intriguing quarterback
By Usayd Koshul
Round Five, Pick 163: OLB Casey Toohill, Stanford
The Bears need to add some depth at edge rusher behind Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn. Drafting a guy like Casey Toohill, who had 21.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks during his college career could turn into another late-round gem for Ryan Pace.
Toohill’s production is off the charts. However, what makes him so much more intriguing is that 2019 was his first year as a full-time starter and he posted 11.5 tackles for loss to go along with eight sacks.
Toohill wins one on one matchups in multiple ways. First, he possesses tons of bend, meaning he’s able to turn the corner with ease. Second, he plays with a high motor and is always going after the quarterback,. This is something that no pass rusher on the Bears did in 2019 besides Mack.
Overall, Toohill is the perfect example of a guy that can become a quality depth piece for the Bears and become a situational player. Right now, he’d likely be a fourth or fifth-round pick meaning the odds of him landing with the Bears seem to be high.
