Tarik Cohen
Our first candidate to be traded is running back Tarik Cohen. Tarik enjoyed a decent rookie year before having a somewhat breakout campaign in 2018 when he was selected to the Pro Bowl. However, 2019 was a disappointing year for Tarik who saw significant decreases in rushing and receiving yards.
After earning a base salary of $645,000 in 2019, that number will jump to $2.133 million this season, the final year of his rookie contract. While Tarik is a fan favorite and can be an electric player to watch, the reality is the skillset he brings to the table is somewhat easy to replace. There are a number of players in this draft or as undrafted free agents who could be the team’s gadget guy.
If the #Bears decide not to re-sign Tarik Cohen (contract up after next season) one potential late round replacement in the #NFLDraft is Adrian Killins out of #UCF. He’s...uhhhh...super fast. https://t.co/5QIGnMHBEN

It seems unlikely that the team is going to re-sign Cohen for next year as well, so why not explore the possibility of getting some value in return now? Well, perhaps Matt Nagy and company feel he’s indispensable to the success of a team that is in “win-now” mode. If that’s the case, they would likely hold on to the playmaker. We’ll see what happens, but if Cohen got dealt this weekend, I would not be all that surprised.
