4. Hunter Bryant, Washington

The fact that Hunter Bryant doesn’t have that elite speed, nor is he all that tall (6-foot-2) and still ranks high up in this class says how great he measures everywhere else. Bryant is a smart, crafty football player.

He knows how to use his quickness to get past second-level defenders and get himself open. He does a lot of that work himself, without scheme coming into play. Bryant is quick on the draw in terms of reaching for a catch, no matter where it is or how poorly the throw might have been. His hands are sticky and his instincts sharp.

After the catch, Bryant is surprisingly agile. He gains yardage, period. The guy just searches for more green in front of him, and more often than not, he gets it.

3. Adam Trautman, Dayton

Many might look at Adam Trautman as just another big, tall tight end for the Bears to miss on like they did with Adam Shaheen. I get the comparisons. But, if you look further, Trautman offers the Bears so much more.

Sure, he’s a big target at 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds. But, he’s also one heck of an athlete for his size. Trautman is experienced lining up all over the place, whether it be in-line, outside, the slot or even in the back field. Some may not know this, but Trautman was once a quarterback — hey, there’s a sneaky weapon for Matt Nagy to deploy.

Trautman is used to being used heavily and for good reason. He catches all types of passes. He can adjust mid-air to make the tough grabs. His play strength is also evident on tape, as he uses it to manhandle defenders while ensuring he gets the football.
