Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Draft: Top 10 tight end targets
By Ryan Heckman
10. Dalton Keene, Virginia Tech
We start in an area where you could have one of a few different names, but I really like Dalton Keene and believe he should be in the top 10. Everybody wants to focus on a pure receiver at this position, but Keene gives you a little bit of everything. Listed at 6-foot-4, one of the most well-rounded tight ends in the draft.
Chicago Bears
In Matt Nagy’s offense, you’d think he would love to have a guy he can use in-line, in the slot, or even as a fullback. That’s exactly what Keene can be within the Bears’ offense. He has experience doing it all, which is a great trait to have. To top off the versatility, Keene is a fantastic blocker. He’s as physical as it gets, whether he’s blocking or finishing a play after the catch.
9. Colby Parkinson, Stanford
If you want to have a sure shot at finding a tight end who will at least stick around and have a decent NFL career, snag one from Stanford. Per NFL.com, Stanford has had five underclassmen tight ends drafted between 2013 and 2019. That number is impressive — and that’s just underclassmen, keep in mind.
Colby Parkinson stands a menacing 6-foot-7 and is exactly what you would picture him to be — a red zone nightmare for defenses. He’s very hard to defend with his height and length, but he also runs very solid routes at his size. Unlike Keene, Parkinson has to add some strength to his game. His blocking is virtually non-existent and he’s pretty lean for his size.
