Could the Chicago Bears draft a replacement for Trey Burton this year? We present our final tight end rankings for the 2020 NFL Draft.

There has been quite a whirlwind involving tight ends this week, and I don’t think we’re even close to being done with the madness. After all, the 2020 NFL Draft kicks off this weekend and the Chicago Bears are in need of some help at the tight end position.

Just a few days ago, the Bears announced they were going to release veteran Trey Burton just two seasons after he signed with Chicago. In 2018, Burton was signed to a fairly lucrative deal, considering he was previously a backup with Philadelphia. However, he has been unable to stay healthy over the last year and a half and the Bears seem tired of waiting around.

Now, he has a head start on finding a new team. However, the Bears are left with a bunch of pretty unimpressive names in their tight end room, along with 33-year old Jimmy Graham who slots in as the current starter. General manager Ryan Pace will find another tight end either via trade or the draft, and that player has to become a focal point for the next few years.

Of course, the news of Rob Gronkowski not only returning to the league but being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers certainly stirs things up. Gronk gets to play with his old pal Tom Brady, as they look to strike Super Bowl pay dirt once more in sunny Florida.

This year’s tight end draft class is not exactly chock full of future All Pros, but there are several whom carry some intrigue and should have lengthy careers in the NFL. The Bears currently have two second-round picks, one of which many believe they will trade in order to recoup some more draft capital.

Whether or not they make a trade, the possibility of drafting a tight end remains high. So, let’s look further at our final rankings — the top 10 tight ends of the 2020 class.
