Chicago Bears: Best defensive target in each round of 2020 NFL Draft
Round 4 Target: Alex Highsmith, EDGE, Charlotte
With Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn, the Chicago Bears have one of the best duos at edge rusher in the entire NFL. That being said, the team lacks impact depth behind them at the position and could certainly use a talented rusher to groom for the future. Again, the Bears do not currently have a fourth-round selection, but if they end up with one due to a trade-down situation, Charlotte edge rusher Alex Highsmith would make a ton of sense for the team.
Highsmith shows an explosive first step and does a nice job of getting upfield quickly. He is also quick in short spaces, shows some nice bend around the edge and closes on the quarterback in an instant. He is certainly a bit of a raw talent, but Highsmith has a ton of long-term upside and would be worth taking a chance on early on Day 3.
Round 5 Target: Justin Strnad, LB, Wake Forest
After losing Nick Kwiatkoski in free agency, the Chicago Bears may be looking for some off-ball linebacker depth in the 2020 NFL Draft. I highly doubt that they invest a significant pick in the position, but if the right opportunity presents itself, taking a linebacker is certainly possible.
Justin Strnad is an extremely quick and explosive linebacker prospect who shows the range to legitimately defend from sideline-to-sideline. He lacks ideal functional strength and is not the most relaible tackler at all times, but Strnad is a hard-working and athletic linebacker who coversa. ton of ground in both run defense and pass coverage. If he is available in the fifth round, the Bears must have Strnad on their radar.
