Chicago Bears: 5 tight ends to replace Trey Burton
By Ryan Heckman
4. Cole Kmet, Notre Dame
Cole Kmet is the one tight end who could go in the second round as the first guy off the board at his position. The Notre Dame product saw his stock rise significantly after his performance in the Senior Bowl, as well as the NFL Combine.

The one scenario I would like to see, if the Bears were to go after Kmet, is trading to the very back of the second round, or even early third, assuming he’s still there.
Don’t get me wrong. I like Kmet, but I don’t think the Bears should spend that high of a pick at the tight end position.
His skill set and size are definitely NFL caliber, and he could be their tight end of the future. He’s a taller guy, at 6-foot-6, and has a pretty large wingspan and catch radius.
Kmet can go up and grab the tough catches, too, which is another reason to like him. The one area he needs work is in his blocking, but that’s a lot to do with effort and practice. If the Bears could land Kmet in the late second or early third via trade, I’d be satisfied.
