5. WR K.J. Hamler, Penn State

If the Bears want to add speed on offense, then K.J. Hamler is the guy they need to target. An explosive playmaker who’s dangerous in space, Hamler would come in and be the Bears’ new slot receiver.

The biggest thing that makes Hamler so dangerous is his ability to dominate after the catch. This is something he’s excelled at over the last few years in college. At the next level, he’s going to be the kind of guy that a team can have a set of plays for in order to really spark an offense.

While Hamler has a lot to love, there are two things that are red flags. First, he’s just 5-foot-9 which is an issue since bigger defensive backs will toss him around at the next level. Second, he could add some muscle to his frame. He’s just 176 pounds but if he can add at least ten pounds of muscle, he’ll be in a situation to be an every down player.

Overall, Hamler has a lot of qualities to love but his biggest asset is his speed that will allow him to make a name for himself at the next level. In what is a deep wide receiver class, Hamler isn’t being talked about enough as someone the Bears could potentially consider in the second round.
