Chicago Bears: Five players to consider at 50th overall

3. S Ashtyn Davis, California
The Bears need to find a long-term starter next to Eddie Jackson and a hard-hitting, physical safety like Ashytn Davis could be the long-term solution. Davis will not slip in the draft due to lack of talent, he’ll slip because there are players such as Xavier McKinney and Grant Delpit. However, Davis is a guy who’d fit the Bears defense.
Davis brings three things to the table that defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano will value. First, he’s physical and is willing to get after ball carriers. He’s always going to bring the hammer down on anyone. Second, he’s a really solid player in man coverage, especially in the slot. And third, he can be placed all over the field meaning the Bears can have multiple different roles for him.
Davis has also shown a knack for finding the ball as well. While in college, he intercepted seven passes. This isn’t necessarily the strongest aspect of his game and it doesn’t need to be for any safety but this is still an impressive number considering how physically dominant he was.
Overall, Davis possesses all the qualities needed to complement Eddie Jackson. He’s another player that isn’t being talked about enough amongst the Bears fanbase and would instantly be an upgrade over anyone that the team currently has at strong safety.
