Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Draft: Most likely players to drop to pick 43
By Ryan Heckman
Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, Utah
If Terrell is gone by pick 43, and Jaylon Johnson is still there, the Bears should seriously consider snagging him. In fact, I like Johnson a little more than Terrell.
Johnson is more appealing to me because of his size and strength. He’s similar in stature to Terrell at 6-feet tall, weighing in the 190s. But, he’s a bit more physical. He lines up across from WR1 type guys and beats them up.
He’s not only a big, strong corner, but he’s tough too. In 2019, Johnson played through a torn labrum. Now, is that smart? Not exactly. But, players have done similar things in the NFL. He’s a tough kid.
Despite playing hurt, Johnson came up with 11 passes defended and picked off a pair of passes, finishing with one defensive touchdown also.
The Bears would solidify their CB2 spot with Johnson, no question. Everyone else would be competing for a backup spot. While a lot of corners come into the pros and have to work on becoming better in press, Johnson is not one of them. He could slide right into the outside spot and be as comfortable as any.
