Kaiden Guhle

The Chicago Blackhawks might not get on the board until both Drysdale and Sanderson are gone. Those two are pretty much locks to be the first two defensemen selected. Obviously anything can happen. Last season, Steve Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings went way off the board and selected Moritz Seider with the sixth overall pick. People looked at them funny but it looks like it might have been a really nice pick now.

Knowing that absolutely anything can happen, it is still fair to assume that they will be the first two taken. After them, it should be another string of forwards. It is hard to make out who is going to be the third blue-liner to go in the draft. The best option for the Blackhawks if it came down to it might be Kaiden Guhle. He is currently playing for the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL.

Guhle would be a good fit for the Blackhawks because he is a bigger kid that has some offense to his game. It might take him a few years to develop enough to play on a National Hockey League defense but he will get there. He had just completed his second full season with the Raiders this year. He had 11 goals and 29 assists for 40 points in 64 games. He will almost certainly be back with them again next season where he could absolutely take off even more.

Obviously, this draft is loaded with talent. If the Blackhawks are going to go for a defenseman in the top-15, these are some solid options. They still might go with a forward if the forwards available are significantly better players in their minds. Whatever happens, the Hawks need to do what is best for the team in the future.
