Alex DeBrincat

The Chicago Blackhawks took Alex DeBrincat in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft at 39 overall. If the draft was redone today, he would probably go in the top-ten. He has been a great player in the NHL since his arrival. His goal scoring has been as good as most young players in the league since he came in. His numbers were a little bit down in 2019-20 but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he is a great sniper and general player.

DeBrincat played his junior hockey for the Erie Otters of the OHL. His linemate there? Dylan Strome. They had Connor McDavid with them before he was the number one overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft and turning into the best player in the world. However, even after McDavid left, DeBrincat and Strome were awesome together.

Strome struggled when he first got to the NHL with Arizona but coming to Chicago did wonders for him. Alex DeBrincat had a lot to do with that. Strome also had a lot to do with DeBrincat taking his goal-scoring to new heights in 2018-19. These two are magical on the ice together and should be together during the primes of their careers. It might not be great for DeBrincat to take him away from Strome because then you’d have to put him with Patrick Kane which could deplete the depth.
