Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens have been just on the outside of the playoff line for the past few seasons. They have Carey Price and Shea Weber on big-money deals with lots of time left on them while not getting any younger. They need to decide soon if they are going to try and rebuild or add some more pieces and go for it one more time. They have made it as far as the Eastern Conference Finals in recent years but it has been a while since they were a real threat.

One thing they have always lacked is depth at center.  All of their best forwards in recent memory have been wingers. In order to get over the hump, you need to be strong at the center position. Adding Dylan Strome would be a solid addition for the Canadiens to play with some of their wingers. He would be awesome with a guy like Max Domi, Tomas Tatar, or Jonathan Drouin amongst others.

A good package for both sides would be Chicago sending Strome and a fourth-round pick to the Habs for Phillip Danault and a second-round pick. That second-round pick that the Hawks would be getting would be their own one back. Montreal has it from the trade that sent Andrew Shaw back to the Hawks. Danault is also a former Blackhawks forward that has really developed nicely in Montreal. This would be a trade addresses needs for both teams. Strome would have a chance to go be a high-end center there while Danult would fit in nicely as the Blackhawks third-line center.
