2. DE Curtis Weaver, Boise State

After investing in Robert Quinn in free agency, the Bears also retained Isaiah Irving and then signed Barkevious Mingo. However, Mingo and Irving were merely brought in to contribute on special teams. This leaves the Bears with a true third option at edge rusher meaning that they could potentially select someone with the 43rd overall pick.

However, that someone shouldn’t be Boise State’s Curtis Weaver. The biggest issue with Weaver is that he isn’t very bendy, meaning sometimes, it’s hard for him to turn the corner and get after the quarterback.

However, Weaver’s production over the last few years has been off the charts. Since making his debut for Boise State in 2017, Weaver has totaled 47.5 sacks and 34 tackles for loss. In other words, he’s a guy who can stuff the stat sheet but also keep in mind that totaled the numbers he did while playing for a lower end division one school.

Weaver will most certainly be on the board at 43rd overall unless some team falls in love with him and reaches for him. While he could be an option for the Bears, there are other players at the same position like Michigan’s Josh Uche that could be available when the Bears pick.
