Chicago Bears 2020 NFL Draft: 7th Round quarterback options
By Ryan Heckman
3. Nate Stanley, Iowa
Here is another quarterback who looks the part simply at first glance. Nate Stanley is 6-foot-4 and weighs 235 pounds. He is built strong and comes out of Iowa as a three-year starter who was able to stay healthy throughout those three seasons. Health and frame are important, and Stanley has both.

Stanley has a good enough arm to make NFL throws. He can sling it downfield with ease, and experts liked his accuracy on deep balls last season. Arm talent isn’t everything, though, as Stanley struggles in a busy pocket.
Accuracy is something Stanley has to work on going into the pros, as he finished right around 59 percent in all three of his seasons starting with the Hawkeyes. The positive here, is that he does find ways to stay alive in the pocket. Stanley just doesn’t throw accurately when under pressure, and that’s noticeable.
He strikes most as a guy who will need to be in the right system, with enough talent around him, in order to succeed. Now, many have said the same about Trubisky, which is funny — because the Bears do have a lot of talent around the quarterback.
One of the main reasons he is not as appealing in today’s NFL is the lack of mobility. Stanley is not a running quarterback, and it’s becoming tougher and tougher to succeed in today’s league if you can’t scramble just a little bit.
