1. Steven Montez, Colorado

Wherever Steven Montez ends up being drafted, he will not be able to escape the puns, jokes and references from Comedy Central’s Workaholics. For that reason alone, I think Bears fans would have plenty of fun with Montez in Chicago.

As for Montez the quarterback, he definitely has some interesting qualities.

Montez has a great frame for a quarterback at 6-foot-4 and 231 pounds. He’s a big, strong quarterback with pretty good arm talent. Just watching him in the pocket, releasing the ball, it’s hard not to fall in love with the release — quick and smooth.

He has some sneaky mobility, yet hasn’t found ways to really utilize it. Over his career at Colorado, Montez ran 343 times for just 960 yards. So, he isn’t shy about taking off, but a combination of poor offensive line and a lack of committing on his part has limited his rushing ability.

Montez does have one alarming quality about him which will scare folks away, and that’s his inability to go through his progressions regularly — yes, that’s where Mitchell Trubisky struggles as well.

If he wants to have any future as a pro, Montez is going to have to work hard on his progressions. He’ll also want to prove he wants it. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com notes his “play demeanor doesn’t always seem to inspire teammates.”

On the outside, Montez looks the part with how he’s put together. But, I think mentally, he’s got a ways to go.
