Chicago Bears 7-Round Mock Draft: A perfect trade back scenario
By Ryan Heckman
Round 7, Pick 227: Safety Jalen Elliott, Notre Dame
It’s a little funny we come from talking about a guy like Bailey on the previous slide, to now looking at a safety of similar characteristics. Jalen Elliot will not blow you away athletically. His Combine performance was less than stellar — especially his 40-yard dash, running that in 4.8 seconds.
Elliott is an experienced starter for Notre Dame over the last three seasons. He’s physical at the point of attack and is better in the box than he is in coverage. He’s known as a fantastic leader and a high effort player, and as one of the last defensive backs on the roster, Elliott would be worth a flier.
Round 7, Pick 234: Linebacker Michael Divinity Jr., LSU
As their last pick in the draft, snagging someone with a little upside might be worthwhile. Michael Divinity Jr. played within one heck of a defense during his time at LSU, though he missed some games due to failed drug tests last season. Here’s to hoping a second chance and fresh start is something he makes the best of.
Divinity is unique because he’s built like an edge rusher. He has long arms and plays much longer and bigger than he stands. He’s played both inside and outside linebacker, giving the Bears some flexibility with where they want to try and fit him.
