While offensive tackle is an area of concern for the Bears, the interior offensive line is the more immediate need for the team. If the Bears do not end up taking an interior offensive lineman in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Michael Onwenu stands out as a strong Day 3 target for the team.

Onwenu is a massive man who was a three-year starter at right guard for Michigan. He has an extremely wide base and a ton of natural power in his hands. Onwenu explodes off of the ball quickly and always seems to get impressive push at contact. Simply put, he moves people in the run game, consistently clearing out space for his backs.

There are some mobility concerns here, as Onwenu is definitely not the most fleet of foot. That being said, he does move well for such a big man. Onwenu is always going to be a guy who is better near the line of scrimmage, but he can get out and make blocks in space at times.

To put it simply, Onwenu is a big and powerful offensive lineman who is going to handle power-based players well at the next level. He may struggle against speed at times, but once he gets his hands on the player it is game over. Onwenu shows incredible functional strength at all times and could quickly grow into a stable presence on the interior offensive line.
