Left Field: Alfonso Soriano

Career Numbers with Chicago Cubs: 889 games, .264/317/.495, 181 home runs, 526 RBI, 109 wRC+, 18.1 fWAR

Alfonso Soriano‘s time with the Chicago Cubs is mostly looked at as a disappointment. Prior to the 2007 season, the Cubs signed Soriano to a massive eight-year, $136 million free-agent contract. It was the biggest contract in Cubs history at the time, but Soriano never played up to his contract in Chicago.

That being said, he was better in Chicago than he is remembered. Soriano was always an above-average offensive asset and became a very good defender in left field. Soriano never became an MVP-caliber player with the Cubs, but he is a talented baseball player who is the obvious choice for this left-field spot.

Honorable Mention: Kyle Schwarber

What Kyle Schwarber did in the 2016 World Series was absolutely incredible and needs to be mentioned. Suffering a devastating knee injury early in the 2016 season, Schwarber was able to make a triumphant return in the World Series and they probably would not have won it all without him.

While his offensive production has been inconsistent throughout his career, Schwarber has a ton of natural power and raw upside going forward. Also, while he is not an overly impressive defender, Schwarber is better in the outfield than he is typically given credit.

Other Players of Note: Moises Alou and Chris Coghlan
