Chicago Cubs: Creating the perfect lineup of the 2000s
Third Base: Kris Bryant
Career Numbers with Chicago Cubs: 706 games, .284/.385/.516, 138 home runs, 403 RBI, 130 wRC+, 27.8 fWAR
Kris Bryant has had one of the best early careers in the history of the Chicago Cubs. He was the Minor League Player of the Year in 2014, National League Rookie of the Year in 2015 and National League MVP in 2016. Rizzo was the captain, Zobrist was the World Series MVP, but Kris Bryant was the best player on the 2016 World Series championship team.
Bryant is a tremendous offensive weapon who shows impressive plate discipline and fantastic raw power. While he is not a great defensive third baseman, Bryant gets the job done at the position and has also shown the ability to play every outfield spot and first base. Simply put, Bryant is an MLB superstar who is going to have a long and successful career. Even with other strong options, he is the obvious choice here.
Honorable Mention: Aramis Ramirez
Aramis Ramirez was never a strong defensive third baseman, but that man could undoubtedly swing the bat. Ramirez was a consistent offensive force in the Cubs lineup from 2003-2011 and a two-time All-Star while he was in Chicago. Ramirez also National League Hank Aaron Award in 2008 and a Silver Slugger in 2011.
Ramirez is undoubtedly one of the best offensive players in this era of Chicago Cubs baseball. However, Bryant is simply too good to be unseated. Ramirez is stuck with the honorable mention at third base.
Other Players of Note: Luis Valbuena, Bill Mueller and Mark Bellhorn
