The Chicago Blackhawks need some more depth at forward. They are pretty set at center with Jonathan Toews, Kirby Dach, and Dylan Strome if he resigns so adding some winger help is important. They have Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, and Dominik Kubalik who are awesome but the addition of a guy like Mike Hoffman would really help them.

Hoffman has been a huge part of the Florida Panther offense for the past few seasons. He had 29 goals and 30 assists for 59 points in 69 games before the NHL paused. He certainly would have been a 30 goal scorer again if they finished the season and that would have been his second straight 30 goal season. He has had 20 or more goals six straight seasons with the Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators.

Adding more goals like that to this group would go a long way in the Blackhawks being good enough offensively. They have a lot of fire-power already but even that hasn’t been enough to mask some other issues. Well, adding a guy like Hoffman might be just what they need to help themselves out.

He would also help the power play as he has 28 power-play assists and 28 power-play goals in the past two seasons combined. That is an area that the Hawks have been awful in over the past few seasons so helping in that area would be very smart.

Adding any of these guys might feel like a longshot but if they clear some cap space and are able to do some shopping whenever they declare free agency, they would be wise to do so. They don’t have many more years with their legends in their prime so they should try and take advantage by going for one more try.
