1. Offensive Lineman Damien Lewis, LSU

One of the anchors to LSU’s offensive line, protecting Joe Burrow and blocking for Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Damien Lewis would be one of the best value picks for Chicago in the fifth round. There are a couple of things that would have to happen for the Bears to land him at that spot, with of course the first being that he falls to them.

Second, the Bears would have to skip the interior offensive line in the second round. Most likely, Ryan Pace will trade back — at least that’s what the hope is from many fans, myself included. Either way, if Pace doesn’t grab a guard before the fifth round, he could find himself a quality player in Lewis.

He plays hard-nosed, strong football. Lewis doesn’t have the athleticism or length you’d like to see in an ideal pro lineman, but for that reason he plays a lot sturdier. Lewis is a tank and latches onto blocks very well. He’s a stout, strong blocker in both the pass and run game and could absolutely compete with someone like Germain Ifedi for a starting spot.

In a system like Matt Nagy’s, one thing Lewis should be able to do better is get to the second level. If he works on his quickness to that extent, Lewis should be a fine pro and a solid backup at worst.
