Round 1, Pick 13 : Quarterback Justin Herbert, Oregon

How does it happen? First of all, the Bears wait to see if Justin Herbert falls. Right now, he could go anywhere within the top 20 picks, depending on what the top 10 looks like. If he falls, this is how the Bears land Herbert.

The deal, in itself, is yet another enormous risk by Pace when it comes to a first-round quarterback. For those who hate the deal, I completely understand it. Quite frankly, I’m not sure how I’d feel about it either.

But, the opportunity to land Herbert and have him come into the mix right away is enticing. At first glance, Herbert has everything you want in a franchise quarterback. He’s 6-foot-6 with sneaky mobility and can make throws from anywhere.

Instantly, the Bears are required to keep three quarterbacks, which in their case is a necessary evil. In order to finally solve the quarterback problem, they may hav e to carry three.

As for the Bears trading both of their second-round picks, don’t worry too much. They still end up with eight picks in this draft, and the trading isn’t done yet. The Bears are about to jump back up into the fourth round.
