Chicago Blackhawks: Analyzing every No. 1 pick since Patrick Kane
Steven Stamkos is an elite NHL player. He has been one of the very best players in the league for a long time now. Stamkos used to be known as one of the best pure goal scorers in the NHL. Well, it is a fair thing to say about him because he has 422 goals in 803 games. He is probably the best goal scorer on this list, including Kane. One thing that has made Stamkos great is the fact that he has turned into an elite playmaker as well.
He has added 410 assists for 832 points in 803 games played. He dealt with some injury trouble in the middle years of his career to date but he has been very good since making full recoveries. He has had a bit of team success with the Tampa Bay Lightning which some Hawks fans might remember. They have a few appearances in the Eastern Conference Finals and the one time they made it to the Stanley Cup Final before being defeated by Chicago.
For being drafted by a team in the opposite conference, Stamkos has been wildly successful against the Blackhawks. He has 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in 16 games played against Chicago in the regular season. However, in the 2015 Stanley Cup Final against the Blackhawks, Stamkos had just one assist in those six games before the Hawks won their third Cup in six seasons.
