Cornerback Kristian Fulton, LSU

Thanks to The DraftWire’s senior draft analyst Justin Melo, we were able to learn that the Bears have met with LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton via FaceTime.

This cornerback class is interesting, because a guy like Fulton could go in either the first or second round, as could a couple of other guys. Each year, though, this happens. There are only 32 picks in the first round, so plenty of players have to fall.

If Fulton is one of them who makes it to 43 or 50, I think the Bears could have found their second starting cornerback opposite Kyle Fuller.

Fulton is a kid who has a lot of good attributes, just none that completely stand out as elite. That’s fine, because he’s well-balanced. He’s plenty fast (4.46 in the 40) and has an athletic 6-foot frame.

As you can see, he’s also got a little swag. The confidence is there.

One number which stands out, though, is the 40 percent completion rate that Fulton allowed opposing quarterbacks over the last two seasons (h/t NFL.com). Last year, Fulton came up with a whopping 14 passes defended, yet only one interception. If he can turn a couple of those defended passes into takeaways, Fulton becomes a top-notch prospect.
