Chicago Blackhawks: Three free agents they can go after
Taylor Hall is having a roller coaster of a career. He was the first overall pick by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2010 NHL Draft. Then he spent some years in Edmonton where the team was so bad. He was a very productive player for the Oilers but he never was able to reach that true potential in his skills there. Then, the Oilers traded Hall to the New Jersey Devils for Adam Larsson. It was a horrible trade for the Oilers because Hall is a star player and Larsson was a mid-level defenseman.
With New Jersey, Hall took off. He had .99 points per game percentage which is still New Jersey’s best points per game percentage in the history of their franchise. One year, his 39 goals and 54 assists for 93 point season landed him the Hart Trophy as the MVP of the league. He dragged the Devils into the playoffs where they were defeated by the Tampa Bay Lightning in five games. Due to the fact that he has free agency looming, New Jersey traded him to the Arizona Coyotes back in December.
The Coyotes fell off once Hall got there but it really wasn’t his fault. He isn’t having an MVP level season but he is still a high volume point producer. If the Blackhawks wanted to take a chance on him then it would be on him to decide. He probably wants to win because he has only played in one playoff series his entire career and they won one out of five games. It is a mystery as to what his contract will look like because of how up and down things have been for him. He has also battled some injuries so you don’t know how much that will affect things either.
If the Blackhawks wanted to add any of these guys to the mix, it would cost a bit of money. They would all, however, positively impact the entire team with their play. Each of them is elite at a different position of need for Chicago. The Hawks might be quiet in free agency and do nothing, but these are certainly three good players to look at once that time comes.
