Could a bitter rival come to play for the Chicago Blackhawks? The answer is yes because of the money and opportunity. Alex Pietrangelo is one of the elite defensemen in the National Hockey League right now. If he came to Chicago he would automatically be their best defenseman. You could even argue that he would be their second-best player behind Patrick Kane.

He is already 30 so he likely isn’t getting what he could have if he hit free agency two years ago but he will still get a nice chunk of change for a fair amount of years. The Blackhawks might have it to give once this is all said and done as well. It is the biggest need on this team as Pietrangelo would change the entire setup of this team’s defense. He would put everyone a little closer to the proper spot in an NHL lineup.

Pietrangelo, like a lot of Chicago’s core, has won the Stanley Cup. He would be able to bring that much more leadership as this team gets younger at pretty much every position. Adding a guy like him with his skill set would really have a chance to drastically improve them. Obviously, convincing him to join the rival would be difficult but anything could happen right now.
