Chicago Blackhawks: Three free agents they can go after
The Chicago Blackhawks let Robin Lehner go in a trade to the Vegas Golden Knights at the trade deadline. He was a very good goalie for Chicago and kept them in a lot of games prior to his trade. Then he went over to Vegas to form a really good duo with Marc-Andre Fleury in a quest for the Stanley Cup. Well, with the season on pause we don’t know if they will have that chance.
Lehner is an unrestricted free agent once this season is over. He isn’t likely to resign with the Vegas Golden Knights at the conclusion of the season, whenever that may come. He is also going to make a fair amount of money based on the numbers that he has put up over the last two seasons. He proved that the New York Islanders’ defensive system isn’t the only reason he was good, because Chicago’s system was anything but defensive.
So now, the Blackhawks are surely going to be looking for a goalie for next season and beyond. Corey Crawford‘s contract is up as well and nobody knows if he is going to leave either. The Blackhawks have some money coming off the books so they would be able to afford to add Lehner on a fair deal but they would need to convince him to come back.
