Chicago Bears: Scary draft prospects for each NFC North rival
By Ryan Heckman
The Detroit Lions would be scary with…
EDGE Chase Young, Ohio State
This all hinges on the Washington Redskins deciding not to take Chase Young, but if he ended up in Detroit, the Bears’ offensive line would have the best pass rusher in the draft class to worry about twice per year. Detroit should definitely be going defense with the no. 3 overall pick, and if Young is there, he instantly changes the tone of that unit.
Cornerback Jeff Okudah, Ohio State

Outside of the top two or three cornerbacks, this class is fine. It’s not great, but it’s fine. Detroit may be able to find a starter at corner in the second round, but if Young goes to Washington, they’re taking Jeff Okudah — at least they should. After dealing Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles, they need a starting cornerback in the worst way.
Running Back J.K. Dobbins, Ohio State
As much as I like Kerryon Johnson the player, I just think Matt Patricia likes his running back committee approach too much to allow him the full-time role. In the second round, they very well could go running back at no. 35. J.K. Dobbins would give them a strong one-two punch in the back field, which would give Chicago’s defense a run for their money.
Cornerback Trevon Diggs, Alabama
Again speaking of finding a cornerback, if the Lions don’t get Okudah in the first round, I think they could go after someone like Trevon Diggs out of Alabama. If they did, he would instantly step in as a starter. While he’s not on Okudah’s level, Diggs is still a quality cornerback. Typically, if you put your money on defensive backs from Alabama, you’ll come out a winner.
