The Chicago Cubs made a decent pick in 2014 when they took Kyle Schwarber with the fourth overall pick in the MLB Draft. He has turned into a pretty good player despite some injury issues early in his career. He helped them win a World Series and all that but for some reason, he seems to have left people wanting more.

He has so much raw power in his bat but the numbers haven’t always been there. He had a pretty good year in 2019, however, as his 38 home runs and 92 RBIs were impressive totals. He deserves to be tagged as a really good player but exactly how good remains to be seen. He could go on and be even better as he goes through his prime or he could prove that the best is already behind him.

Those reasons make it hard to guess what his next contract will look like. He is only 27 so you want to believe he has a whole lot of career left in front of him. He isn’t going to get superstar money like Christian Yelich, Manny Machado, or Bryce Harper got but he should get a nice little raise here soon. Are the Cubs going to be the team that gives him that raise? It is something that could go either way. His name has been mentioned in trade rumors a bunch since his rookie year so you shouldn’t be surprised if he is one to be gone sometime soon.
