Chicago Cubs: Three stars they can trade away this summer
The Chicago Cubs struck gold when they selected Kris Bryant with the second overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. He took a couple of seasons to finally get up to the Major Leagues as it does for everyone but he sure hit the ground running when he arrived. In his first year, he won the National League Rookie of the Year. Then in year two, he exploded to win the NL MVP and the World Series. It was a remarkable start for Bryant.
He has been an All-Star in three years out of five including last season. It is fair to assume that some injury trouble cost him spots in the summer classic in the other two seasons that he didn’t make it. Bryant is a superstar player and the numbers along with his accolades prove that. He still has so much career ahead of him which makes baseball fans smile.
With that said, are those years going to be with the Cubs? It is hard to say yes because of all those accolades mentioned above. You would think that a guy who was that good would be the guy who stays but him staying might cost a lot of money. If Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer can pull off some sort of fair deal it might get done with ease but if not they might be forced to trade him. There were heavy rumors of trades involving Bryant during the offseason but nothing came to be.
It is less than fun to hear that the Cubs might trade Bryant for Cubs fans but it is a reality. It is no guarantee because anything can happen but he is definitely one of the three stud players on this roster who could get moved sometime soon.
