Chicago Bears NFL Draft: 5 trades worth making to move up
By Ryan Heckman
1. Trade into early 2nd for CB A.J. Terrell
The Bears have a few players that will compete for the starting spot next to Kyle Fuller, but not one particularly stands out. Those three include former undrafted find Kevin Toliver, former Pittsburgh Steelers first-round pick Artie Burns and Top CFL free agent Tre Roberson.
While any of the three could end up having a strong camp and win the job, I am not particularly confident in two of the three — Toliver and Burns. For that reason, I think if Clemson corner A.J. Terrell is available after the first couple of picks in the second round, Chicago needs to make it happen.
Trade Example: Bears send pick no. 43 and a future 5th round pick to Carolina Panthers for pick no. 38
Some outlets have Terrell as a first-round corner, and he is well-worth that type of grade. Terrell is a 6-foot-1 corner who is used to playing good football on the big stage. He’s got tremendous speed (4.42 second 40-yard dash) to go with a physical style of play.
If the Bears have to sacrifice a future mid-round pick to land their second starting cornerback on a rookie deal, that’s well-worth the trade. Terrell would be a steal in at the 38th pick, or anywhere around that area.
