Mock Draft 4 — Big Boys First

This one is for all the folks who have shouted from the rooftops that nothing is going to improve offensively without addressing the offensive line first. For those guys and gals, I present mock number four.

Round 2, pick 43: OT Ezra Cleveland, Boise State

Round 2, pick 50: OL Jonah Jackson, Ohio State

Round 5, pick 163: TE Harrison Bryant, Florida Atlantic

Round 6, pick 196: WR Jauan Jennings, Tennessee

Round 6, pick 200: RB Joshua Kelley, UCLA

Round 7, pick 226: CB A.J. Green, Oklahoma State

Round 7, pick 233: S Jaylinn Hawkins, California

In the second round, the Bears could have a few options up front, if they wanted to go offensive line with both picks. We’ve talked about Hennessy, and they might also have a chance at either Austin Jackson out of USC or Isaiah Wilson from Georgia.

Two other possibilities include LSU’s Lloyd Cushenberry and Auburn’s Prince Tega Wanogho. But, in this instance, they snag offensive tackle Ezra Cleveland from Boise State and Jonah Jackson out of Ohio State. This would give the Bears immediate competition and potential starters at two positions up front. Training camp battles would be immediate must-watch entertainment across the line.

We’ve talked about Bryant being added to the tight end room already, and after that, the Bears would add Jauan Jennings to the receiving core. But, one guy I can’t ignore is UCLA running back Joshua Kelley. He had a strong Senior Bowl and proved he can run between the tackles, as well as catch the football.

One more player to highlight: A.J. Green may be a developmental prospect, but I believe he sticks on the roster. Not only that, but I think he’s a steal in the seventh. I believe he’ll be gone before then, but if he’s there in the final round, he’s a no-brainer. Green’s frame has everything you want in a shutdown corner, and working with Chuck Pagano could help him reach his highest potential.
