Chicago Bears NFL Draft: 5 must-see full mock drafts
By Ryan Heckman
Mock Draft 2 — Day 1 Starters
What the majority of fans would like to see in the upcoming draft is if the Bears were able to secure Day 1 starters in the second round. With this mock, that’s exactly what they would do.
Round 2, pick 43: CB Trevon Diggs, Alabama
Round 2, pick 50: OL Matt Hennessy, Temple
Round 5, pick 163: WR Antonio Gandy-Golden, Liberty
Round 6, pick 196: EDGE D.J. Wonnum, South Carolina
Round 6, pick 200: OT Scott Frantz, Kansas State
Round 7, pick 226: RB Reggie Corbin, Illinois
Round 7, pick 233: S Jalen Elliott, Notre Dame
First off, the Bears would be able to plug in Alabama cornerback Trevon Diggs immediately opposite of Kyle Fuller. As arguably the third-best corner in this draft, Diggs would be a fantastic pick at no. 43. Then, being able to label Tre Roberson and Kevin Toliver as reserves would be a big win.
Secondly, Chicago would find its new starter at guard in Temple’s Matt Hennessy. He is a guy many like to go in the second round, and at pick no. 50, he’s a strong selection. Hennessy had a great combine overall, and since then his draft stock as been on the rise.
Later on, the Bears add depth at a lot of spots. But, the one guy I’ll point out is Liberty wideout Antonio Gandy-Golden, who could end up being one of the sneakier picks in this class. Playing at a smaller school hurts his stock from the get-go, but there’s no denying his physical ability. Lining him up on the outside, with Allen Robinson on the other side and Anthony Miller in the slot would give the Bears three lethal, unique weapons.
