Chicago Bears: 2 recently cut players to consider
By Ryan Heckman
Tight End Ed Dickson
It is true. The Bears do have a ridiculous amount of tight ends on the roster at the moment. Chances are, they will cut ties with at least one of them before the draft — if not immediately afterwards.
Right now, the guys I see sticking around are: Jimmy Graham, Trey Burton and Demetrius Harris. These are all obvious answers, it seems. Graham and Harris were just signed this offseason and Burton is too expensive to let walk this year — next year, we’ll talk, though.

I would love to see the Bears allow Jesper Horsted a permanent spot, because I think he deserves it. The rest? I’m fine cutting ties.
Yes, that includes Adam Shaheen. It’s time to admit that mistake and move on, Pace.
Signing Dickson would fit well with what Pace has done already in bringing in veterans to solidify the position. Graham is the receiving threat (at least that’s Pace’s hope) and Harris is the blocker. Dickson would give them a little bit of both.
Dickson’s best days were with the Baltimore Ravens when Joe Flacco was targeting tight ends more than any other quarterback in the league.
He’s not as young as he once was, but Dickson would be a great addition for depth. He’s savvy and sure-handed, and would essentially put a bandaid on the tight end position for 2020. Then, next year, Pace could cut Burton and really go after his tight end of the future. For now, Nick Foles would have enough to work with.
You bet I just called my shot — Mitchell Trubisky ain’t winning that job.
