Chicago Bears: Three reasons trading for Khalil Mack was smart
Marketing
The Chicago Bears are one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the history of the NFL. They don’t have that much of a winning culture surrounding them currently, but they have still been a well-known team across sports. Before the Khalil Mack trade, they really didn’t have the most marketable group. They didn’t have a superstar quarterback or a lights-out defensive player for a few seasons. Think, oh, Brian Urlacher-esque.
Before Mack came in, Brandon Marshall, Jay Cutler, and Matt Forte were the bigger names for a while, but in between them and Mack’s arrival, they didn’t have one stud to market around. Now, Mack is the one jersey on the Bears that everyone wants to buy. When you go to games at Soldier Field, that is the current player whose jersey you saw being worn around the most by fans.
Mack is also the lead face whenever the Bears play games on national television. He is the face of the Bears, so that right there is a great reason to be happy with the trade. The Bears should be thrilled to have Mack as a part of their organization. Hopefully, they are able to capitalize on such a great trade by making a Super Bowl run with him.
