They are a quarterback away

The Chicago Bears traded for Khalil Mack to complete one of the best defenses in the NFL. One thing that Ryan Pace deserves some credit for is putting together the league’s best defense in 2018. The takeaways came down in 2019 but they were still one of the three best defenses in the league. It might not be the case if they never traded for Mack.

That defense makes it where they don’t need an offense to take care of them. They just need to score enough points to take advantage of having such a great defense.  They have some good pieces on offense but it is all for naught without a quarterback.

When they traded for Mack, they had Mitchell Trubisky getting ready for his first full season. Now in 2020, they have Nick Foles in the mix to try and take the job away from him.

Mack sealed them having an elite defense but they don’t score as much as an offense should. They say that defense wins championships, but you need to score some points to win.

The defense was on the field way too much in 2019 and it showed. The offense needs to figure it out so they can take advantage of having Mack on this team. His arrival made it where they are a good quarterback away from being a Super Bowl contender.
