Chicago Bears: Three reasons trading for Khalil Mack was smart
He is their best player
The Chicago Bears had some pretty good players on the team. There are above average to great players at a lot of different positions, especially on the defense. With players like Akiem Hicks, Eddie Jackson, Kyle Fuller, and Roquan Smith, amongst others, they have the making of an elite defense. They also added Robert Quinn this year in free agency.

With all of those great players, it is a defense that is certainly fun to watch. However, none of those players are as good at their positions as Khalil Mack.
He is the best player not only on the defense but on the roster overall. He is also one of the very best players in the entire National Football League. There are few players that can impact the game the way that he does.
Before Mack arrived, there wasn’t one player on the Bears that was clearly the best player. They didn’t have a player that was one of the best in the NFL either. 2018 was the year the Bears saw both Fuller and Jackson break out as two of the best at their position, and Mack’s presence was a big part.
Trading for Mack was such an important move in terms of adding an elite player. Mack is the team’s best player and will be for a long time. It was a great trade, in terms of adding an elite pass rusher.
