. G. Chicago Blackhawks. Corey Crawford. 5. player. 94

Robin Lehner wasn’t the only elite goalie to play for Chicago in 2019-20. Corey Crawford was just as good as Lehner this year. It might not seem like that in the eyes of the casual fans because, for some reason, the Hawks played better and scored more in front of Lehner. Crawford had a better goals-against average and he save percentage was one percent less with the Blackhawks. Crawford had 2.77 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage this year.

His contract is up after this year so it will be interesting to see if the Blackhawks bring him back as he will be going into his age 35 season. He dealt with some injuries prior to this year but he has been healthy for a while now. He was very good with the Hawks this year. He and Lehner split time which was probably good for Crawford as he tried to make sure he stayed healthy with no issues all year long. He also needed to maintain a high level of play throughout and he did.

Once Lehner was traded away, Crawford stepped in as the full-time number one goaltender. Malcolm Subban was his backup and he rarely saw any time in the net. Crawford was brilliant from that point on as well. It is important that the Blackhawks have good goaltending these days because of the fact that they play a very run and gun style.

All of these players were awesome for Chicago in 2019-20. Hopefully, in the case of the three forwards, they are able to maintain that level of play going into next season. As far as the goalies, we don’t know for sure where either of them will be playing next season but the Blackhawks better make sure that the position is secure.
