Chicago Blackhawks: Five players who were great this year
Robin Lehner was a fantastic goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks. He gave them a chance to win every single game that he started. He was the backbone of a team that stinks defensively for a lot of the time that he was in the blue paint. He was also a treat to listen to talk before and after games. The most important position on a hockey team is the goaltender and Lehner was a really good one.
Lehner had a 16-10-5 record with Chicago this season. He had a 3.01 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. Those are really good numbers for a team that gives up a lot of high danger chances in order to try and create some of their own. The Blackhawks don’t play a system that is necessarily goalie friendly so he had to be really good in a lot of games for them to have a chance to win.
The season, however, didn’t end in Chicago for Lehner. He was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights on trade deadline day. He now splits the net there with Marc-Andre Fleury to form what is one of the best tandems in the NHL. If the playoffs do happen this year, Lehner and the Golden Knights do have a chance to win the Stanley Cup. His future is unknown after this season is over but the Blackhawks should be thankful that he played so well for them in a tough year.
