Chicago Bears: 3 Houston Roughnecks players to consider signing
Cam Phillips – WR
The Chicago Bears are looking to give whoever is their quarterback enough weapons in 2020. Whether it is Mitchell Trubisky or Nick Foles, they need someone to throw the ball to. There are some studs in the mix like Allen Robinson II and Anthony Miller but they should be looking for depth at the position so they can have the best chance possible to score points. They could look to the 2020 NFL Draft for help there but the XFL might have a few gems as well.
Cam Phillips could be an option to look at from the Houston Roughnecks. He had a pretty good year for them before it all came to an abrupt ending. He isn’t the most athletic guy in the world but he is capable of catching the football which is something the Bears need. They had a miserable time trying to catch the ball in 2019. They dropped pass after pass so bringing in as many receivers as possible is a smart idea.
The question for Phillips is whether or not he can deal with NFL defenses. He hasn’t played against anybody in the XFL that exists in the NFL but he deserves a chance. He especially deserves a chance with a team like the Bears, who need a number four receiver that won’t drop passes.
The Bears might look at some XFL players or they might not. The only thing that is for sure is that they should look at all their options. They can’t waste the core that they have built so adding pieces that will help them during this window is extremely important.
