Chicago Bears: 5 value free agents still available

Tight End Tyler Eifert
Talk about a pain point for Bears fans right now. The tight end position was a joke before the start of free agency, and after Pace went out and brought in an aging Jimmy Graham on a 2-year deal worth $16 million, we are all laughing even harder.

At this point, the more the merrier — right? The Bears already lead the league with tight ends under contract. It’s kind of reminiscent of the kicking competition last year, isn’t it? Yikes. This is getting ridiculous.
In all seriousness, if Tyler Eifert can obtain and pass a physical, he’s worth a low cost deal. If he’s healthy, he is a fantastic red zone threat with great hands. I know the Graham signing was intended to give the Bears an athletic red zone target, but Eifert would double up on that cause.
The former Pro Bowler caught 13 touchdowns back in 2015 but went through a couple of tough years afterwards due to injury. Last year, he appeared in all 16 games but with Andy Dalton missing most of the season, he caught just three scores.
I don’t think he will get much more than $2 million annually at this stage, and I believe the Bears could get him for even less than that. Signing Eifert would be a low-risk, high-reward type of deal.
