Chicago Blackhawks: Five players to trade this summer

This next player was also a part of an all-time bad trade. The Blackhawks are very thin on defense at the NHL level so they decided to trade the young stud Henri Jokiharju to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Alexander Nylander. Jokiharju is now a staple on the Buffalo blue line while Nylander has had an up and down season. It isn’t his fault that the Hawks acquired him for Jokiharju but it is what it is now.

The Blackhawks should trade Nylander this summer while he still has any value left at all. There is not an inept enough team out there to trade a stud defenseman back to Chicago in exchange for Nylander but they need to accept their losses and move on. There are other players that they can get to play in Nylander’s spot on the left-wing.

The Blackhawks need a whole makeover for most of their bottom-six forward groups and Nylander might be the leader of that. He might be on his way out or he might not be but he certainly hasn’t lived up to being the eighth overall pick or part of a big trade like he was. The question for Nylander now is what can the Blackhawks get back for him in return?
