Move No. 3

If veteran options don’t work, look to draft

Obviously with the Bears’ current cap situation, another veteran may not work out. That’s fine, because if Trubisky is gone (or even if he isn’t) the Bears should still heavily consider drafting a quarterback.

In Round 2, there could be one of three different guys available to select: Washington’s Jacob Eason, Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts or Georgia’s Jake Fromm.

For the record, I was all about taking Washington State’s Anthony Gordon in the fourth round, prior to the Bears trading that pick for Foles. The second round may be too early to draft Gordon, but if they traded back and grabbed a third or fourth, then he makes sense.

If they looked at quarterback with either pick 43 or 50, I would want it to be Eason or Hurts, without a doubt. Both present a lot to like.

Eason has the cannon arm and can make a lot of the throws which make you go, “whoa.”

Hurts, meanwhile, has maybe the most upside out of any non-first-round quarterback due to his dual-threat ability.

Whatever the Bears decide to do with Trubisky doesn’t matter at this point. I think the Bears still look at quarterback in this upcoming draft. They have to start thinking about the future, beyond just the 2020 season.
