When people remember Chris Kunitz, they will remember Sidney Crosby‘s best wingman that he had in his legendary career. Crosby is one of the greatest players who ever lived and Kunitz was right there for a lot of years to help Sid get to where he was. Yes, Kunitz started his career with the Anaheim Ducks, but a trade for Penguins defenseman Ryan Whitney sent Kunitz over to Pittsburgh. As Kunitz retired last season, people will remember him for his days with the Penguins.

Remembering him as a Penguin is only natural. He won the Stanley Cup with them three times and was an integral part of their success. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Chris Kunitz were the big five in Pittsburgh for a long time. That is why his time with the Chicago Blackhawks will always be remembered as a weird time in his career.

Kunitz was a role player with Chicago and he only got into 56 games. He scored 5 goals and had 5 assists for 10 points with the Hawks. He wasn’t the 35 goal man that he was playing next to Sidney Crosby but he was a good leader in the locker room. It was a tough season in the standings for Chicago but seeing Kunitz in a Blackhawks jersey was a bit strange.
