Competition for Trubisky is a positive within itself. Last year, and the year prior, Trubisky knew the starting gig was his and his alone. Any way you look at it, there was no way Chase Daniel was going to become the starting quarterback of the Bears, aside from injury.
This year will be a whole lot different for Trubisky. Throughout the summer and training camp, he will be practicing with a veteran guy who is not only making more money than he is, but is a former Super Bowl MVP. Whether or not you like Foles, he comes to Chicago with much more of a pedigree than Trubisky — and that will apply pressure to the fourth-year pro.
Even ESPN’s Field Yates believes Foles is coming to Chicago to slot in as the starter immediately. Quite honestly, we all know it won’t be that cut and dry. Pace and Nagy will likely open up the competition, but if you have experts out there already foreseeing Foles winning the gig, that isn’t a bad thing — unless you’re still a believer in Trubisky.
