Chicago Bears: 2020 free agent adds from AFC East

5. OG Joe Thuney
Another big-name free agent, Joe Thuney is expected to be one of the first interior offensive linemen off the market. A third-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2016, Thuney has started all 16 regular-season games for the Patriots since entering the NFL.
Besides just proving that he can be durable, Thuney would be able to get the Bears running game going. He’d also likely end up being the second-best player on the Bears offensive line, trailing fellow 2016 draft pick Cody Whitehair.
It’s very likely that the Patriots allow Thuney to leave via free agency. Over the last few years, they’ve allowed some high-profile offensive lineman such as Nate Solder. They usually do so to take advantage of the NFL’s compensatory system.
The key thing to understand with Thuney is that he should be plan B for the Bears. Plan A should be Detroit Lions guard Graham Glasgow. However, both will likely get $14 million dollars on the open market. The Bears also need to be wary of Thuney’s price tag because he could also end up being a boom-or-bust free agent.
