1. DE/OLB Shaq Lawson

The Bears need to figure out what to do at the edge rusher position. Leonard Floyd, a former top-ten pick, has yet to live up to his draft status and is set to earn $13.2 million dollars in 2020, a price that’s a bit too high considering his production. While Floyd is one issue, another issue that the Bears need to address is who’s going to be the third-string edge rusher on the depth chart behind Floyd and Khalil Mack.

That’s why Shaq Lawson should interest the Bears. He’s just 25 years old and has just 17 career starts but has always been production. Since entering the NFL in 2016, Lawson has posted 108 tackles, 16.5 career sacks, and 38 quarterback hits.

While some may look at Lawson and say he’s not a guy who can be counted on to replace Floyd or an upgrade, keep in mind that the goal behind signing a guy like Lawson is to give the Bears an opportunity to take some pressure off guys like Mack and Floyd.

A contract for Lawson would likely be a two or three-year deal with $15 million dollars total. This wouldn’t break the bank for the Bears and the Bears could easily get out of Lawson’s contract after two seasons if needed.
