Round 2, Pick 50

2. player. Oklahoma. Jalen Hurts. 57. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. QB

For all the folks who are just now coming around on Jalen Hurts, I say: Hello there. I’ve been waiting for you.

After the last time we saw Hurts throwing the football in game action, most fans were out on him. I completely understand that, but at the same time, I wasn’t ready to throw in the towel on a guy like Hurts. He’s the perfect high-upside candidate to come in and learn for a year — if not less.

Hurts has things he can work on, no doubt. He’s made some errant throws in his day. At the same time, he’s recovered well from his downfalls. Each and every time I saw Hurts go through adversity this past season, he came back with a vengeance. The guys simply hates to lose, and it is evident.

Obviously, his blazing speed at the quarterback position is something which catches anyone’s eye. But, he threw the ball well at the Combine. Hurts followed that up with a stellar Pro Day. He showed a ton of improvement on his timing and, like clockwork, people are all the sudden back on board with Hurts’ potential.

One of the greatest attributes he possesses is that he is a leader of men. There is no question about his leadership ability, his command of the huddle and he’s someone you want leading your team in crunch time. Hurts is a very smart player, and he’s a strong leader. Combine that with his athleticism in Nagy’s offense, and his continuing development as a passer, and you’ve got one of the highest potential players in this year’s class.
