The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues are playing in an extremely important game that also has a special broadcast team for the match.

The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues are about to renew one of the oldest rivalries in the league. Each team has won the Stanley Cup in the last decade and each team sees this game as a big game for different reasons.  The Blues are trying to hold off the Colorado Avalanche for the Central Division lead. They want to avoid the Dallas Stars in the first round so winning the Division is important to them.  Meanwhile, Chicago just wants to make the playoffs in general.

The fun in this game goes beyond the teams on the ice. It is going to be broadcasted on NBC Sports Network and will be done by an all-female crew. It will be the first time an NHL game in the United States will have such a broadcast. This special broadcast coincides with International Women’s Day. Kate Scott is going to be the play by play announcer while AJ Mleczko will be the color commentator. Kendall Coyne Schofield is going to be at ice level doing the “inside the glass” coverage.

Women’s involvement in hockey has grown tremendously over the past few years. The game has grown at a rapid pace and now the NHL is getting involved. This is going to be a fun game for everyone who loves hockey, in general, to take in. It is extra fun when you consider that the Blackhawks-Blues rivalry will be on display for this historical broadcast.

As for the game, you can claim it is a must-win for the Chicago Blackhawks. They were on a roll before the Detroit Red Wings defeated them on Friday night. Detroit is a very bad hockey team but the effort wasn’t there. The Blues are a much different animal as far as playing them so the Blackhawks are going to need to put an elite effort on display. This is the kind of game that guys like Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Duncan Keith need to have an impact.

This season hasn’t been perfect for Chicago but they are, at the very least, not giving up. They were sellers at the trade deadline. Other than the Detroit game, they have played well since then too. Hopefully, they are able to get back on track with a win against the defending champions.
